About the Position: This is a PERMANENT Program Manager (Deputy) position with the Directorate of Plans, Training, Mobility and Security, Plans & Operations Div at Fort Jackson, SC. Moving expense allowances MAY be authorized, subject to the provisions of the JTR and an agency determination that a move is in the Government's interest. Recruitment, relocation and/or retention incentives MAY be offered for this position.

Duties

Participate in planning, coordinating, and supervising work through general supervision of division chiefs and subordinates. Ensures all sections meet objectives of contingency, operational planning, exercises, and training. Coordinate with other organizations and offices engaged in the development and implementation of plans and objectives in keeping with the Director's management direction. Based on extensive organizational and administrative knowledge of the programs/projects and products/equipment under the direction of the Command Group, incumbent analyzes program guidance received from higher headquarters. Research current Department of Defense (DoD), Department of the Army (DA), and local policy to decide appropriate policy and procedures in relation to current projects, taskings and issues. Provide guidance and support on various issues such as automation requirements, internal supply support, manpower, human resources and maintenance requirements. Serve as Deputy and shares the responsibility for planning, managing, directing and controlling ongoing operations of the Directorate.

Requirements

  • One year supervisory probationary period may be required.
  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 5% of the time.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-13). You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: LeadershipOral CommunicationStrategic PlanningWritten Communication Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-13). All applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade and specialized experience requirements within thirty (30) days after the closing date of the announcements. Current employees applying under VEOA are subject to time-in-grade restrictions like any other GS employee.
