In this position you will function as an Education Technician within Education Service facilitating New Employee Orientation and providing fiscal and administrative support for all employee education and staff development activities at the VA Black Hills Health Care System, Black Hills, SD. This position is located in Fort Meade, SD.
Duties

Major duties include the following:
Provides overall management and facilitation of the VA Black Hills' of New Employee Orientation (NEO) program,
Serve as the Fund Control Point (FCP) Manager/Fiscal management for Education Service to include obligating funds for all employee academic tuition, required training and continuing education programs
Provide logistic support when necessary to ensure the effective operation of training program activities coordinated through Education Service.
Ensure that all purchase card uses are pre-approved by the Chief of Education/DLO by policy/Directive.
Travel within the VA Black Hills Healthcare System to alternate sites is required.
Collects data to determine staff development.
Attends assigned meetings. May prepare meeting agendas and minutes, maintain files of minutes, and follows up on action items
with appropriate staff members.
Prepares and types reports of a technical nature for the Chief of Education/DLO.
Provide Library support.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday - 7:30AM - 4:00PM

Qualifications
THERE IS A TYPING PROFICIENCY REQUIREMENT: This position requires the skills of a qualified typist. Applicant must be able to type at least 40 words per minute.
PLUS
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Possess at least one (1) full year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of this position, and that is typically in or related to the work of this position. To be creditable, this experience must have been equivalent to at least the GS-6 level in the Federal service. Specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to, developing, maintaining and implementing program agenda/schedules, coordinates and conducts meetings, continually assesses programs for improvements; maintains accounting records and uses a purchase card, and processes materials (such as books, journals) for circulation.

Physical Requirements: Work is mostly sedentary, with some walking, standing, bending, and carrying of light to moderate weight items such as papers, files, manuals, and occasional requirements to move educational materials, boxes of files, and equipment such as flip charts, video
monitors, slide projectors, tables, chairs, etc. Work requires prolonged periods of sitting in one position for typing and other duties, including use of a personal computer.
