About the Position: Serves as the Chief of Emergency Management Branch and as principal advisor to the Commander on all matters relating to natural and technology disasters and national security emergencies, civil disturbances, and terrorism activities. Responsible for managing the District Emergency Programs.

Duties

Serves as a subject matter expert on PL 84-99 and the Stafford Act, and is well versed about authorized projects, Continuing Authorities Programs, and other USACE emergency authorities. Serves as Chief of Readiness and Contingency Operations Division. Conduct after-action sessions to develop a district corrective action plan and provides recommendations to Major Support Command (MSC) and/or Headquarters United States Army Corps of Engineers ( HQUSACE) for improvements in response capabilities.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Chief, Readiness and Contingency Operations Division must be on call 24 hours per day and deployable on TDY assignments to any area in the USACE theater of operation impacted by natural disaster or national emergency.
  • Deployments normally last 30-days real time but may be extended based on specific situation.
  • Position requires incumbent to travel approximately 25% of the time.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid civilian driver's license.
  • A one year Supervisory probationary period may be required.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/ level position in the federal service (GS-12). You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: DecisivenessEnvironmental Emergency Response SupportLeadershipTechnical Competence Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-12).
