You will serve as a Fuel Distribution System Worker in the Fuel Department of NAVSUP FLEET LOGISTICS CENTER JACKSONVILLE.

Duties

You will operate equipment to control movement of petroleum products. You will open and close valves in the proper sequence to provide an open pipeline from assigned tank to pier to accomplish off-loading of bulk fuels in accordance with written and verbal instructions. You will record valve and pump status on electronic control board and initiate, control and terminate fuel transfers. You will examine the bulk fuel piping system for leaks while it is under prescribed pressure and examine gauges, couplings, valves, strainers, flanges, exposed piping manifolds and electronically controlled hydraulic marine loading arms.

  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.
  • This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.

The Screen-out Element for this position is: I have the ability to perform the full range of tasks including : operating equipment to control movement of petroleum products; following appropriate procedures for opening and closing valves, starting and stopping pumps, and recording amounts transferred; reading meters, taking samples, temperatures, water cuts and gross liquid gauges; performing loading/unloading of fuel oil tankers, barges, and the transfer of fuels within the tank storage areas; calculating the rate of fuel flow and regulates tank feed control valves and maintaining adequate pump suction and proper tank levels; and performing operator-level maintenance preventative maintenance of fuel facilities. I work on my own initiative under general supervision subject to occasional inspection.
