This position is located at US Mint,Denver-MANUFAC DEPT/Plant Manager CO/Public Affairs and Exhibits Division. As a Visual Information Specialist, you will plan, design, and organize exhibits that provide the public with information about the Mint's programs, history or related subjects.

Duties

The following are the duties of this position at the GS-09. If you are selected at a lower grade level, you will have the opportunity to learn to perform all these duties and will receive training to help you grow in this position. Help in the selection of artifacts, photographs, exhibit material and orders Mint models and products to be used in exhibits. Research Mint archives and public sources for information to write texts and captions for exhibits; use photography and video equipment to capture photos and videos for presentations; design, create, and print posters, signs and banners using editing software, which may include Photoshop, Lightroom, Illustrator, InDesign and Acrobat Pro. Design and create video presentations and projects using advanced software, which may include Premiere Pro and Audition. Respond to public inquiries about Mint exhibits, programs and history; handle telephone inquiries regarding Mint programs, order cycles, special medals, mailing lists, etc. Identify the nature of the inquiry and furnish information using a thorough knowledge of the Mint numismatic programs as well as its ordering process and knowledge of the Mint's functions and activities.

Qualifications

You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement. Specialized Experience: For the GS-09, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized Experience for this position includes ALL of the following: - Creating, deploying, and maintenance of an organizational brand throughout its publications, website, and other communication products. For example, publications, marketing materials, and web sites which incorporate photographs, video, illustrations, drawings, artwork, charts, diagrams, maps, and/or other kinds of visual material for use in communicating information through visual means; AND - Experience in the use of traditional graphic design techniques (use of line, color, shape, texture, form) and the application of design thinking (design-specific cognitive activities, methods, and processes that create innovative, human-centered results) to produce print, video- and web-based communications; AND - Experience with graphic design software (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator), video design software (Premiere Pro And Audition), hardware (desktop and laptop computers), and other tools (such as those required to perform the precision cutting and folding involved in the creation of a high-quality design comp). - OR - You may substitute education for specialized experience as follows: A master's or equivalent graduate degree, or two full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree, or LL.B. or J.D., if related. - OR - You may qualify with a combination of education and experience listed above in which the percentage of specialized experience and education totals to 100%. Only graduate level education in excess of the first 18 semester hours (27 quarter hours) may be combined to be considered for qualifying education. Specialized Experience: For the GS-07, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-05 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized Experience for this position includes ALL of the following: - Participating in the designing and producing of communication products; AND - Experience in the use of traditional graphic design techniques (use of line, color, shape, texture, form) and the application of design thinking (design-specific cognitive activities, methods, and processes that create innovative, human-centered results) to produce print, video, - and web-based communications; AND - Experience with graphic design software (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator), video design software (Premiere Pro And Audition), hardware (desktop and laptop computers), and other tools (such as those required to perform the precision cutting and folding involved in the creation of a high-quality design comp). - OR - You may substitute education for specialized experience as follows: One full year of graduate level education. - OR - Superior Academic Achievement - Bachelor's degree that meets one of the following requirements: GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale for all completed undergraduate courses or those completed in the last 2 years of study, or a GPA of 3.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale for all courses in the major field of study or those courses in the major completed in the last 2 years of study, or rank in the upper one third of the class in the college, university, or major subdivision, or membership in a national honor society recognized by the Association of College Honor Societies. - OR - You may qualify with a combination of education and experience listed above in which the percentage of specialized experience and education totals to 100%. ***If you are using education to qualify for this position it must meet the following requirements: Undergraduate and Graduate Education: Major study -- commercial art, fine arts, art history, industrial design, architecture, drafting, interior design, photography, visual communication, or other fields related to the position. Some positions may also require subject-matter knowledge of medicine, science, or technical equipment.
