You will serve as a SAFETY AND OCCUPATIONAL HEATLH SPECIALIST in the HEADQUARTERS AND SERVICE COMPANY of MARCORPSBARRACKS.
Duties
You will be responsible for administering and managing a multitude of safety and environmental matters.
You will apply specialized expertise in the handling, storage, and disposal of toxic chemicals, not hazardous and hazardous wastes in supporting the safety and occupation health program of an organization involved in various activities.
You will serve as a technical expert on safety-related matters, advising top management, staff and operating officials and supervisors on principles and techniques of safety and occupational health management.
You will maintain a close contact with command fiscal personnel to ensure that both long term and short-term safety and environmental budgetary needs are satisfied.
You will perform inspections and surveys of all aspects of facilities, equipment, and operations to ensure compliance with safety and occupational health regulations and requirements.
You will conduct preoperational review of high-hazard operations and performs risk assessment of the hazardous process or conditions including various available alternate measures.
You will investigate accidents involving injuries and/or material damage to determine circumstances involved and the nature of injuries and/or damages.
You will provide technical supervision and training for collateral duty safety and occupational health personnel to assure effective performance of safety duties in support of the overall accident effort.
Requirements

- Must be able to obtain and maintain a non-sensitive background requirement.
- Must obtain and/or maintain a valid state driver's license. You will be required to operate a government motor vehicle when conducting site visits away from Main Post or when conducting site visits to training areas.
- This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.
- You may be recalled to duty and to work outside normal duty hours.
- Must be able to obtain and/or maintain required certifications associated with specialized programs such as Confined Space, Respiratory Protection, and Hazardous Materials.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Evaluating and analyzing safety and occupational health program regulations; identifying occupational hazards and providing corrective action to workplace safety for a shipyard or industrial organization.
