The incumbent reports to the head of the new production studio and provides creative development, writing, producing, editing, and directing services for high priority filmed projects within the department.

Qualifications

Candidates must meet the Qualification Standards Handbook requirements for the GS-1071-13. Specialized Experience Statement: GS-13: Candidates must possess at least one year of specialized experience, equivalent in responsibility to the federal GS-12 level, producing documentary films for museums, arts organizations, similar cultural institutions, or entertainment industry equivalent. GS-14: Candidates must possess at least one year of specialized experience, equivalent in responsibility to the federal GS-13 level, leading a production team for a museum, cultural institution, or entertainment industry equivalent. Other Relevant Eligibility Criteria: Requires ability to walk. Requires ability to lift and carry up to 100 lbs with assistance. Must be able to climb a ladder. Must be able to enter and operate a personnel lift. Requires work in confined spaces. Requires work at indoor construction sites. Work can occur indoors and outdoors, in all-weather types. Audiovisual Production – Skill in producing films for a wide range of audiences. Program Management – Ability to manage all aspects of a program, including design, research, administration, and content creation. Supervision – Ability to supervise employees in the workplace, including hiring, managing, disciplining, and developing. Writing Sample: Note: Applicants who are referred to the hiring office for selection consideration may be required to submit writing and/or work samples as part of the interview/selection process. Education

Undergraduate and Graduate Education: Major study -- photography, radio or television production, motion picture production, or other fields related to the position.

Advanced training in a vocational school, technical institute, or art institute above the high school level in one of the fields listed above is creditable as general experience on a month-for-month basis.

General Experience (for GS-5 positions): Experience that demonstrated the skills and creativity needed to use the tools or equipment associated with the work. Because talent and creative ability are vital to successful work performance, samples of work or other suitable evidence of technical competence may be required. Unpaid experience that is pertinent should be credited based upon its relevance to the work of the particular position to be filled. To be qualifying, the work must have provided a general knowledge of the fields of radio, movie, television, and/or audio-visual communication.

Specialized Experience (for positions above GS-5): Experience in the actual type of work for which application is made. Unpaid experience is creditable, provided the work done was of a quality level and demonstrated the ability required for the position. This includes work directly connected with the production aspects of the field(s) of the position to be filled.
