This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Science and Technology Directorate, Communications and Outreach Division (COD) in Washington DC.
The primary purpose of this position is to coordinate the planning, drafting, editing, approving, and publication of web content to the Science and Technology Directorate website.
Duties
As a Web Content Manager, GS-0301-12/13, your typical work assignments may include:
Coordinating the planning, drafting, editing, approving, and publication of web content to the Science and Technology Directorate website and providing direction to program and office content coordinators, subject matter experts, and other staff across the Science and Technology Directorate.
Evaluating the effectiveness of online communication programs and recommends improvements based on research.
Serving as the subject matter expert for the Web Content Management system.
Collaborating and communicating with designers, developers, and writers to conceptualize and create innovative communication tools.

Requirements

Qualifications
Specialized Experience:
For the GS-13:
You qualify for the GS-13 grade level if you possess one year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal government, performing duties such as: 1) Utilizing internet design, user experience, user-centric design, and information architecture principles to create and maintain an online information sharing platform; 2) Developing web content to enhance understanding of assigned programs; 3) Incorporating new approaches to resolve complex communications problems; 4) Applying web metrics to generate reports and optimize web content; 5) Creating technical training program documents to assist subordinates in managing web content and systems.
Substitution of education in lieu of specialized experience may not be used for this grade level.
For the GS-12:
You qualify for the GS-12 grade level if you possess one year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal government, performing duties such as: 1) Analyzing the effectiveness of communication policies and plans; 2) Planning a communication program through the use of various communication strategies; 3) Developing and editing original multimedia products in accordance with applicable laws and regulations; 4) Writing communications products (i.e. news releases, fact sheets, speeches, etc.) to support organizational priorities and activities.
Substitution of education in lieu of specialized experience may not be used for this grade level.

Time-in-grade: Current General Schedule (GS) federal employees, and those that have served in GS positions within the last 52 weeks, must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade, or a combination of the next lower grade level and an equivalent band in the federal service by the closing of this announcement.
