This position, in the Department of Gallery and Studio Learning (PLEGL), develops programs for young people—students, teens, interns—and the adults who support them—teachers, family members, mentors, and docents. The primary purpose of the position is to provide administrative support to the Department Head and Program Teams. This position reports to the Department Head but also will work closely with various staff members across the Department and Division.

Qualifications
Candidates must meet the Qualification Standards Handbook requirements for the NF-301-9. A qualified candidate's online application and resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the NF-7 in the Federal service. Specialized experience is at least one year of experience, equivalent in responsibility to the NF-7 level, providing specialized and general administrative support for a department with an emphasis on educational development.

1. Possess excellent organizational, administrative, communication, and problem-solving skills. Proficiency in developing, using, and maintaining databases and spreadsheets.
2. Demonstrated knowledge and experience dealing effectively with a wide variety of people in a courteous, tactful, diplomatic, and responsible manner, either in person, on the telephone, or in correspondence, including e-mail, is necessary.
3. Knowledge of various computer programs is also essential, including Word, Excel, and other project management software. Knowledge of the systems used by the National Gallery such as TMS, Oracle, and Citi manager is preferred.
4. Must be available to work occasional weekends.
5. Must be available to work occasional evenings.
6. Must be able to travel locally during the workday.
7. Must be able to push supply carts and lift boxes up to 30 lbs.
