This position is located at the Denver Mint, Manufacturing Department, Plant Manager, Environmental, Safety, Health and Energy (ESHE) Division. As a Safety, Occupational Health and Environmental Manager, you will serve on the staff of the Mint Superintendent and be responsible for the management of a comprehensive environmental, safety, occupational health program and energy program for the entire Denver Mint.

Duties

As a SAFETY OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH AND ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGER, you will: Be responsible for the implementation and enforcement of safety, fire prevention and suppression, occupational health and environmental programs, and conducts ongoing specialized training for staff as mandated by federal and private agencies such as Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), National Safety Council (NSC), etc. Inspect particular areas of the Mint and survey manufacturing processes machinery, electrical installations, hoists, etc. for the purpose of: a) detecting hazards; b) recommending corrective action, and c) increasing the effectiveness of safety features such as safeguards and processes. Communicate and coordinate corrective action with management regarding occupational safety, environmental health and fire protection. Advise management of safety and environmental health requirements for new products and or equipment that are to be used at the Mint. Lead and promote safety culture and programs on site to prevent lost time accidents and OSHA Recordable accidents.

Qualifications

You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement. Specialized experience: For the GS-13, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes: - Managing and providing technical expertise for a comprehensive safety, environmental hygiene and occupational health program.
