About the Position: Serves as a Transportation Planning Specialist within Surface Deployment and Distribution Command (SDDC). Performs a variety of duties in support of Terminal Operations.

Duties

Interface with Surface Deployment and Distribution Command (SDDC) and HQ, SDDC counterparts regarding SDDC crisis action procedures. Write letters of instructions, warning, and mobilization, and on deployment, GCCS and readiness reporting matters. Analyze mobilization deployment/GCCS documents to determine their impact on the unit mission. Serve as planner, coordinator, and executor for mobilization and deployment training actions. Manage the Reserve Affairs Program and serves as primary point of contact for all Reserve Units and personnel assigned to the Battalion and it's subordinate command. Manage the Battalion's Individual Mobilization Augmentee (IMA) Program. Monitor, record, and facilitate the movement of cargo through the ports in AOR. Plan and execute marine cargo operations to include vessel loading/offloading, port staging for support of JCS exercises, contingencies and operations for military cargo deploying/redeploying through military and commercial ports in the AOR.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Incumbent may be required to serve a one-year probationary period.
  • Incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance
  • Incumbent must be able to pass a pre-employment, and annual physical
  • Incumbent may be required to travel up to 25% to perform duties.
  • This position has been designated as Key: Incumbent of a CONUS position that cannot be vacated during war or national emergency without seriously impairing the mission; such employees have unique or scarce technical skills required during wartime.
  • The incumbent of this position must be able to deploying to foreign and domestic ports with short notice. It is expected that deployment could occur as frequently as four times per year lasting between 7 to 21 days in potential austere conditions.
  • Work conditions sometimes require the incumbent to work outside during all types of weather. Incumbent must be able to board break bulk ships, barges, and other type of vessels and be able to access all decks.
  • Incumbent will be required to submit financial disclosure initially and annually thereafter.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). OR Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree with a major study in accounting, business administration, business or commercial law, commerce, industrial management, statistics, traffic management, transportation, motor mechanics, or other fields related to the position. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Customer ServicePlanning and EvaluatingTechnical Competence Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-09).
