Duties
Serving as a Staff Assistant (OA) GS-0303-7/8 makes you a valuable member of the Federal Law Enforcement Training Centers (FLETC) team and mission. This position is located in the Charleston Training Division (CHT), Office of Charleston Operations (CHS) under the Training Management Operations Directorate (TMO), and located in Charleston, South Carolina.
The primary purpose of this position is to serve as the confidential personal assistant to the Division Chief of CHT and provides substantial administrative support to the staff. Typical assignments include:
Providing administrative training and assistance to staff members by preparing detailed plans to execute all stages/phases of assigned projects and tasks.
Maintaining for a variety of sensitive administrative/personnel matters essential to the efficient operation on of the organization.
Tracking the budget allocations for travel, training, equipment, supplies,
and credit card purchases.
Typing a variety of complex correspondences, memoranda, reports, and other statistical materials on behalf of the assigned supervisor, assembling and attaching any background information prior to submittal.
Requirements

For the GS-8:
Specialized Experience: You qualify for the GS-08 grade level if you possess one year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-07 grade level in the Federal government, performing the following duties: 1) Preparing briefing materials in support of finalizing presentations. 2) Maintaining accurate and complete budget reviews for an assigned program. 3) Composing complex correspondences, memos, reports and other statistical materials on behalf of management. 4) Developing procedures and checklists for administrative operations.
Substitution of education in lieu of specialized experience may not be used for this grade level.
For the GS-7:
Specialized Experience: You qualify for the GS-07 grade level if you possess one year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-06 grade level in the Federal government, performing the following duties: 1) Maintaining files, records, reference materials and retrieve documents in accordance with applicable regulations. 2) Researching data to ensure content is relevant and up to date. 3) Formulating reports in accordance with applicable grammar techniques. 4) Conducting studies on administrative work processes to identify areas for improvement.
Substitution of education in lieu of specialized experience may not be used for this grade level.
