The location of this position is in the Commander Navy Region Southwest Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR) Division at Naval Base Coronado (Aquatics Branch). The primary function of this position is to oversee the beach lifeguard program at Naval Air Station North Island (NASNI).
Requirements
- Must meet Federal Employment suitability requirements and successful completion of background investigation. Background Investigations are conducted using fingerprint identification and completion of background inquiry forms.
- Must successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check. Any discrepancies must be resolved as a condition of employment.
- Irregular working hours may be required to include early shift, late shift, evenings, weekends and holidays when the need arises.
Qualifications
Must fully qualify to be a Beach Lifeguard with USLA current certifications.
Must have worked a minimum of 2500 hours as a beach lifeguard including at least 3 summers, and a minimum of 1000 hours as a lifeguard supervisor.
Knowledge and experience in the latest rescue procedures for open water surf beaches with the ability to instruct and train staff to use specialized equipment such as rescue boats, vehicles, radios, oxygen, and SCUBA.
Ability to maintain excellent public relations and capably exercise control over a group of people.
Ability to take command and exhibit leadership during any emergency.
Ability to maintain records and reports, follow verbal and written instructions, and present reports verbally and in writing using a computer.
Incumbent is under the direct supervision of the Aquatics Manager and is expected to administer the objectives of the Aquatics Department with little guidance unless unusual situations arise.
