About the Position:
This position is a TERM Not to Exceed 13months position. It is time-limited and may be extended up to a maximum of eight years. With the option of conversion.
To be eligible for conversion, employee must complete at least 2 years of current continuous service under a term appointment in the competitive service AND employee must have a current performance rating under such term appointment of at least fully successful or equivalent.
Duties
Inspects contractors' performance at owners residence and at warehouse during packaging, packing, crating, loading, shipping, unloading, uncrating etc.
Verifies whether books, papers, and equipment may be shipped separately as professional items.
Advises property owner of service to be expected from the carrier.
Inspects contractor warehouses to determine that storage methods are proper, adequate protection is provided against fire, flooding, insects, vermin, and facility is receiving adequate community fire and police protection.
Processes inbound/outbound inspection data through online transportation systems
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid motor vehicle operator's license.
- Must be able to pass a government driving test and obtain a government driver's license.
- You may be expected to travel up to 10 % for this position

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: (1) Understanding of personal property shipping regulations and/or transportation background, and (2) Resolving issues involved in movements. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).
