About the Position: This position is located in the Operations Division with the US Army Corp of Engineers, New England District. You will serve as the Marine Operations Officer at the Cape Cod Canal with responsibility for providing direct technical supervision over all government vessel operations, maintenance activities and support facilities to include all temporary and permanent berthing.
Duties
Serves as the Marine Operations Officer for the organization providing direct technical supervision over vessel operations and/or maintenance activities and/or support facilities.
Develops maintenance plans for all vessels and marine facilities.
Prepares and manages operating budgets.
Ensure all maintenance activities meet requirements.
Plans and secures necessary tools, supplies, and equipment for all maintenance operations.
Performs contract inspection work for all contract vessel maintenance.
Provide direct technical leadership to personnel.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.

- Is required to sign a DA Form 5019, Condition of Employment for Certain Civilian Positions Identified Critical under the Department of the Army Drug-Free Federal Workplace Program.
- May be assigned to work a typical schedule and/or weekends, nights, and holidays.
- Incumbent may be required to work in inclement weather or be exposed to extreme cold or heat.
- One year trial/probationary period may be required.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a valid state and government driver's license within 30 days of employment.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) provide guidance to team members on transportation operations. 2) knowledge of vessel operations to tasks such as: assisting in developing maintenance plans for vessels or performing contract inspection work for vessel maintenance. 3) assist with preparing and/or maintaining operating budgets within an organization. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
