This position(s) is located within the Location Support Office of the Dairy Forage Research Center for USDA's Agricultural Research Service (ARS) in Madison, WI.
In this position, you will provide a variety of administrative support including human resource support, time and attendance, procurement, and property management.
Duties
Acts as a contact point person between employees and supervisors and the Human Resources Department.
Serves as Government Commercial Purchase Card cardholder with purchasing authority up to current delegation.
Prepares, coordinates, tracks, and maintains all paperwork related to Procurement Request.
Updates locally based HR database when changes to personnel occur and completes and forwards paperwork for any employee changes to headquarters.
Prepares personnel paperwork, such as Requests for Personnel Action SF-52s on behalf of requesting Location supervisor, and reviews personnel actions and other supporting documentation for completeness and inclusion of all necessary paperwork.
Assists in coordinating the Location’s Occupational Medical Surveillance Program (OMSP) and maintains all appropriate recordkeeping documentation in accordance with governing rules and regulations.
Controls safekeeping of all confidential material received in the administrative office and distributes as appropriate.
Assists location supervisors on the recruitment process such as including ODEO, preparing recruitment timelines, and developing selection criteria worksheets.
Acts as the Liaison for location regarding the payroll system and trains and answers questions from the location timekeepers.
Requirements
- You must be a US Citizen or US National.
- Males born after 12/31/1959 must be Selective Service registered or exempt.

Specialized Experience: Specialized experience is experience directly related to the position to be filled. Specialized experience must be described for each grade level advertised. The specialized experience requirements for this position are: Qualifying experience for GS-06 includes one year of specialized experience comparable to GS-05 which is directly related to the work of this position and which has equipped the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position. For this position, specialized experience is experience providing administrative and clerical support in an office setting; reviewing and maintaining records and documentation for accuracy; and coordinating new employee orientation.
GS-07
Specialized Experience: Specialized experience is experience directly related to the position to be filled. Specialized experience must be described for each grade level advertised. The specialized experience requirements for this position are: Qualifying experience for GS-07 includes one year of specialized experience comparable to GS-06 which is directly related to the work of this position and which has equipped the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position. For this position, specialized experience is experience providing administrative and clerical support in an office setting; reviewing and maintaining records and documentation for accuracy; and coordinating new employee orientation.
Applicants must be able to type at least 40 words per minute.
