About the Position: Directorate Of Public Works is the primary element for maintenance of the installation infrastructure and environment.
Duties
Perform air conditioning equipment, heating/boiler equipment, electrical, and plumbing mechanic tasks.
Minor preventive maintenance type repairs to asphalt floor tile, including conductive vinyl floors in operating suite.
Operate a motor vehicle.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires a valid state of California driver's license.
- This position requires a pre-employment/annual medical examination.
- CFC Certification as required by 40 CFR Part 82, Subpart F, EPA.
- CFC Certification as required by 40 CFR Part 82, Subpart B, EPA.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Maintenance Mechanic without more than normal supervision. The ability to perform common maintenance and repair tasks on air conditioning equipment, heating/boiler equipment and cold storage equipment; the ability to perform repairs to electrical wiring systems and broken plumbing lines. Work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

Physical Effort:
Work requires walking, standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, climbing and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Frequently lifts and carries parts and equipment weighing up to 40 pounds; occasionally handles items weighing up to 100 pounds with assistance.
Working Conditions:
Works inside and outside, exposed to dirt, sewage, dust, grease, fumes, and refrigerant gases. Is subject to inquiry from use of hand and power tools, and to burns, cuts, bruises and electrical shock. May be required to wear and/or use protective clothing and equipment in accordance with established health and safety regulations and SOPs. Works outside and is occasionally exposed to bad weather while loading and unloading vehicle. Is subject to cuts, bruises, and broken bones as a result of accidents while driving or when loading and unloading vehicles. Is exposed to the possibility of serious accidents whole driving in all types of traffic and weather. Some assignments require wearing protective equipment such as breathing protection; rubberized suits, googles, or rubber gloves for extended periods.
Education
