This position is located within the Assistant Commandant for Resources (CG-8), Office of Resource Management (CG-83), in the Pay and Benefits Division (CG-832), at USCG headquarters, in Washington, D.C.
Duties
This position serves as a Health System Specialist and manages Coast Guard's health care reimbursement programs, including Medical Affirmative Claims (MAC) (formerly Third-Party Liability), Third Party Collections (also referred to as Other Health Insurance (OHi), Department of Defense (DoD) billing and Accrual Fund billing. Develops program policy, and management controls, coordinates with the Coast Guard Financial Center (FINCEN) and provides and submits all billing documentation for payment from reimbursable entities. Ensures outgoing medical claims have been audited for accuracy, conducts case follow-up, and closes all outstanding cases. Liaisons with Coast Guard Legal for appropriate legal reviews of all activities.

Qualifications
Basic Requirements:
Undergraduate and Graduate Education:
Major study -- hospital administration, public health administration, or related fields such as business or public administration with course work in health care administration.
OR
At the GS-12 level: Applicants must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 grade level in the federal service.
Specialized experience includes: Applicants must MEET all three conditions below and must be demonstrated in your resume/supporting documents.
Developing program policy, management controls, coordinating with Financial Centers; AND
Providing and submitting all billing documentation for payment from reimbursable entities; AND
Ensuring outgoing medical claims have been audited for accuracy, conducts case follow-up, and closes all outstanding cases.
At the GS-13 level: Applicants must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-12 grade level in the federal service.
Specialized experience includes: Applicants must MEET all four conditions below and must be demonstrated in your resume/supporting documents.
Knowledgeable in Health System business processes, policies and regulations; AND
Developing program policy, management controls, coordinating with Financial Center; AND
Providing and submitting all billing documentation for payment from reimbursable entities; AND
Ensuring outgoing medical claims have been audited for accuracy, conducts case follow-up, and closes all outstanding cases.
