About the Position: Serves as the liaison between the employing organization and the Office of the Staff Judge Advocate (OSJA) under the technical supervision and guidance of the Chief, Military Justice or his or her designee(s) (normally the unit Trial Counsel or the NCOIC of Military Justice). Incumbent works under the administrative supervision of the employing organization.
Duties
At the direction of the Chief, Military Justice or his or her designee(s), assists commanders at all levels and their personnel with all matters relating to the administration of military justice.
Prepares draft appointment orders detailing officers to conduct AR 15-6 investigations, administrative separation boards, and Article 32 hearings for review by the Chief, Military Justice.
Receives Commander’s Report of disciplinary or Administrative Action from the provost marshal or Criminal Investigation Division (CID) and ensures commanders complete necessary action and immediately return the DA FORM 4833 to the appropriate office.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
- Due to the nature of this position, employees are required to work both planned and unscheduled overtime.
- This position requires working alternate or flexible work schedules on evenings and holidays in conjunction with courts-martial.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel 5% of the time.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes experience with 1) researching, reviewing and preparing legal documents as well as non-legal memoranda for completeness of information; 2) preparing/managing records of non-judicial punishment in accordance with governing regulations; 3) investigate a variety of legal sources to obtain and/or verify information; and using automated software to produce legal related reports, documents, correspondence and related materials. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).
This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors.
