About the Position: This position is located at the Human Resources Command, The Adjutant General Directorate, Military Pay Division, Fort Knox, KY. Serves as Program Specialist for Army Solider related benefit Programs. Acts as an advisor to the Chief, Special Compensation Branch on all program activities.

Duties

Compiles and analyzes data to identify trends, deficiencies, and accomplishments. Acquires information from customer through detailed interviewing and systems research. Analyze facts of customer request, verifies information, request additional information. Must exercise tact, sound judgment, discretion, empathy, and communication skills. Assists with the development of program management policy guidance for the organization.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Incumbent subject to a One-year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.

Specialized Experience: Specialized experience is defined as one year of experience equivalent to the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service which includes work that involves: Providing a variety of administrative services. Assuring accomplishment of administrative matters relative to security administration, and documents control/files management. Providing advice, directives, and proper procedures on a variety of administrative procedures. Using personal computer to prepare a variety of reports, memos, letters, slides, graphs, power point presentations etc. Receiving and reviewing incoming and outgoing administrative and military personnel-related correspondence, directives, regulations, instructions, publications, and other written materials. Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07).

Education

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this position at the GS-09 Level you must possess:
Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree
or
2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position such as: Business Management, Business Administration, Resource Management or Human Resources Management.

OR

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages.

Only degrees from accredited colleges or universities recognized by the Department of Education are acceptable to meet positive education requirements or to substitute education for experience.
