This position is part of the Southwestern Indian Polytechnic Institute, Bureau of Indian Education (BIE). As a Education Technician (Tutor) you will be responsible for coordinating tutoring services to enhance student learning.

Duties

As a Education Technician (Tutor)GS-1702-7, your typical work assignments may include the following: Organize tutoring environment to promote productivity and learning. Teach students study skills, note-taking skills, and test-taking strategies. Research or recommend textbooks, software, equipment, or other learning materials to complement tutoring. Review class material with students by discussing text, working solutions to problems, or reviewing worksheets or other assignments. Prepare and facilitate tutoring workshops, collaborative projects, or academic support sessions for small groups of students. Provide feedback to students, using positive reinforcement techniques to encourage, motivate, or build confidence in students.

Qualifications

Applicants must meet the qualification requirements contained in the OPM Standards. For this position, they are listed below. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. GS-07: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-06 grade level in the Federal service. Examples include: tutoring students (in subject areas such as: mathematics, reading, writing, etc.), teach students study skills, note-taking skills, and test-taking strategies, assess students' progress throughout tutoring sessions and maintain filing and records system. Only experience and education obtained by the closing date of this announcement will be considered.
