This position is part of the Security and Intelligent Documents, Government Publishing Office in Washington, District of Columbia
Duties
Schedule the work with the assistance of Mangers and Support staff, in accordance with Lean tools and the effective use of employees and resources. Supervise production progress and communicates any potential issues to appropriate managers.
Supervise daily production of work to ensure good housekeeping per the Business Unit and facility 5S Program; checking quality of product output at various production stages; operation, of equipment; and progress against schedules.
Provide leadership and training to employees to perform ongoing safety checks and efficient performance of production processes.
Perform Electronic Quarterly Performance Reports-EQPRs and evaluates subordinates performance annually.
Maintain and update the equipment Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) program to maximize uptime and minimize breakdowns and stoppages.
Requirements
- U.S. Citizenship is Required.
- Males born after 12/03/59 must be registered for Selective Service.
- Selectee may be required to serve a one year supervisory probationary period.
- Selectee must be able to obtain and maintain Secret clearance.
- Selectee must successfully pass pre-employment requirements prior to appointment.
Qualifications
To qualify for the Group Chief, KB-4402-00 you must meet the following requirements:
Applicants must meet the Ability to Lead or Supervise the work of others as a Group Chief (SCREEN OUT ELEMENT #73) to be considered eligible for the position. These duties include: 1) Scheduling the work with assistance of Managers and Support staff, Lean tools and effective use of employees and resources; 2) Supervising or leading production progress while communicating any potential issues to appropriate managers; 3) Supervising daily production of work, good housekeeping per the Business Unit and facility 5S Program; checking quality of product output at various production stages; operation, of equipment; and progress against schedules; 4) and providing leadership and training to employees to perform ongoing safety checks and efficient performance of production processes.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
Weekend Shift Premium: Employees assigned to the Weekend Shift will receive the day shift rate for their position and receive a Shift premium of 10% for regular shift hours on Fridays and Saturdays. A shift premium of 25% shall be paid for regular shift hours worked on Sundays.
Annual and Sick Leave Accruals: Employees will accrue annual and sick leave hours based upon the number of hours worked and in accordance with Federal leave regulations. Annual and sick leave will be paid at the employee's base rate plus shift premium of 10%
Holidays: Employees will receive all Federal holidays. Federal holidays falling on a Monday to Thursday will be scheduled to be observed on the Friday before or after the Federal holiday, except in the event that July 4, December 25, or January 1 fall on a Sunday, in which case the Federal holiday associated with those dates will be scheduled for that Sunday. Employees will receive their base rate plus shift premium of 10% (110%) for the number of regular shift hours on the holiday or scheduled holiday. If, notwithstanding the foregoing provision, GPO requires staffing on a Federal holiday or scheduled holiday, a 100% holiday premium will be paid for regular shift hours worked in accordance with 5 C.F.R. § 610.407
Overtime Rates: Overtime will be paid at time and one half (1.5x) the employee's premium rate (Base plus shift premium) after 40 hours of regular time in any week. Overtime will also be paid for hours worked in excess of the compressed work schedule each day (i.e., outside of the normal 6:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. regular shift hours on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays). Overtime assignments will continue to be governed by applicable collective bargaining agreements.
Future Wages: Future wage increases for Weekend Shift employee will be bargained by their applicable Unions during wage negotiations.
Education
Substitution of education in lieu of specialized experience may not be used.
