About the Position: This is a developmental Secretary (Office Automation) position at Fort Drum, New York.
Duties
Schedule appointments, meetings, conferences, and briefings.
Provide administrative support to senior leadership, supervisors, and administrative staff of assigned organization.
Receive incoming calls with professionalism and diplomacy on behalf of executive leadership.
Coordinate key personnel for conferences and/or office calls on behalf of supported command team.
Review outgoing correspondence for grammar, administrative soundness, and general tone on behalf of senior leadership.
Serve as the contact for visiting military and civilian dignitaries, inspections, conferences, and individual office calls.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Immunization and Hepatitis screenings are required.
- This position has a proficiency requirement - qualified typist 40 WPM.
- This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is, therefore, subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations.

GS-5
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes scheduling meetings; utilizing computer programs such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint); and/or performing record keeping for the office files. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04).
OR
Education: Four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes transcribing meeting minutes, screening incoming correspondence, and/or scheduling appointments. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes managing multiple calendars for administrative leaders, preparing internal and external communication, assisting leadership in administrative operations, providing secretary duties such as correspondence, suspense's, appointments, social events, reports, budget, etc. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-08).

Proficiency Required: This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5-minute sample with three or fewer errors.
Position can be filled at any level (GS-5; GS-6; GS-7; GS-08 or GS-09) with noncompetitive promotion to the next grade levels are authorized until you reach the full performance level of GS-09; pending time in grade requirements and demonstrated ability to perform the next higher/target level grade duties.
