Duties
Performs a variety of clerical and administrative duties which are auxiliary to the work of the office, and provides support to many individuals and divisions, simultaneously. Serves as the principle administrative assistant of the office, operating independently of any other such position. Provides administrative and technical support by implementing procedures and policies to effectively coordinate and monitor the administrative functions and processes. Responsible for reviewing, updating, logging, distributing, monitoring suspense dates/deadlines and track status of incoming work. Prepares and monitors reports and correspondence. Maintains and evaluates the effectiveness of automated office systems and record keeping systems. Performs reviews for compliance with procedures, identifies incomplete or unusual requests, and advises the supervisor accordingly. Develops and maintains tracking system to ensure all mail, correspondence, projects, and special requests are routed appropriately and/or are administratively processed in accordance with office procedures, BOP policies or federal statutes.

Qualifications
To be considered for the position, you must meet the following qualification requirements. Education: GS-08 and GS-09: As a general rule, education is not creditable above GS-5 for most positions covered by this standard; however, graduate education may be credited in those few instances where the graduate education is directly related to the work of the position. OR Experience: GS-08 and GS-09: You must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and complexity to the next lower grade level in federal service. To be creditable, this experience must have equipped the applicant with the particular qualifications to perform successfully the duties of the position, and must typically be in or related to the position to be filled. Some examples of this qualifying experience are:
GS-08:
Experience in coordinating and reconciling staff travel arrangements.
Experience utilizing documented research in preparing reports.
Knowledge of federal employee entitlements.
GS-09:
Experience with administering the Voluntary Leave Transfer Program (VLTP) and Voluntary Leave Bank Program applications.
Experience in budget reconciliation.
Experience in utilizing automation processes to track and monitor office work flow.
