You will serve as a Training Instructor (Aviation Academics)/Academic Training Support Officer in the Training Department (N7) of Training Air Wing FIVE (TW-5).

Duties

You will be designated as the course manager and subject matter expert for the mandated Instrument Ground School (IGS) syllabus. You will be responsible for the development, maintenance and updating of course materials and the training of new Contract Instructors and Military Flight Instructors. You will be the primary subject matter expert for the helicopter instrument navigation and aerodynamics courses. You will provide counseling, guidance and remediation to military aviation students. You will serve as the senior testing officer for assigned courses, review results, student critiques to make recommendations for course improvement. You will submit proposals for course changes as necessary and assist in the related publications and instructions updates. You will act as the Training Wing coordinator for simulator use, scheduling and tracking utilization. You will serve as the alternate academic schedule coordinator for T-6/TH-57/TH-73 ground school classes. You will serve as the Flight Information Publications (FLIP) manager for Academic Training.

  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • This position requires the ability to lift and/or carry loads/items up to 40 pounds in weight.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector developing course curriculum, training materials, and instruction methods in order to provide classroom instruction and/or flight simulator support for an aviation training program. Education

In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:

Successful completion of a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree;
OR
Successful completion of 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree;
OR
Possession of an LL.M., if related;
OR
A combination of experience and graduate education as described above that equates to one year of experience.

Education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work.
