You will serve as a FIREFIGHTER (BLS/HAZMAT TECHNICIAN) in the Navy Fire & Emergency Services of NAS PENSACOLA to include NAS Whiting Field.

Duties

You will control and extinguish a fire during firefighting operations. You will inspect, test, and maintain firefighting tools, appliances, and equipment to verify operational readiness. You will respond to a high or low angle rescue with engine company or rescue team. You will write reports on fire code violations observed during an inspection.

  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.

  • This is a bargaining unit position.
  • You will be required to possess obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-6 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Controlling or extinguishing fires; Operating fire communications equipment; Controlling hazardous materials incidents; Developing, implementing, or providing training in fire protection and prevention. This position requires the incumbent to possess the following certifications Firefighter II, HAZMAT Technician, Driver-Operator Pumper, Driver-Operator Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting, Airport Firefighter, and CPR (BLS for Health Care Providers),. These certifications must have been awarded by DoD, IFSAC or ProBoard to meet the requirement. Also requires National Registry Emergency Medical Technician (NREMT). If you do not possess all of the above certifications, and provide verification with your application, you will be rated ineligible.
