This position is assigned to the Home Based Primary Care Program (HBPC) in the Extended Care Service (ECS), Marion, VA Medical Center and located at the Rural King Annex in Marion Illinois.
Duties

Duties include but not limited to:
Utilizes statistical data to compile monthly reports as requested;
Assists with keeping program staff apprised of the patient census and any changes/problems that might arise;
Participates in performance improvement activities related to the program quality improvement process;
Assists in the preparation of research, clinical presentations, proposals, and briefing notes;
Creates a variety of computer-based media presentations to complement these presentations;
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7:00am - 3:30pm

Qualifications
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: One (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-4 level in the Federal service that equipped me with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of this Program Support Assistant position. Specialized experience includes: collecting, compiling, or tracking data and statistical information in support of program operations; Preparing, executing, and tracks program specific information such as patient demographics, hospitalization admissions including cause, emergency room visits, performance improvement initiatives, tele-video utilization, patient satisfaction, achievements on performance measures, goals, objectives as well as information required in support of reports and monitoring; Utilizing a variety of software applications to draw information from various sources to prepare reports and assist in program operations planning, reviewing, and reporting data/statistical results; Retrieving a variety of computerized data, establishes protocols for incoming data, organizes and maintains program data. A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE: Have you successfully completed 4 years of education above high school in any field for which high school graduation or the equivalent is the normal prerequisite. This education was obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. One year of full-time undergraduate study is defined as 30 semester hours, 45 quarter hours, or the equivalent in a college or university or at least 20 hours of classroom instruction per week for approximately 36 weeks in a business, secretarial or technical school. COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: Do you possess equivalent combinations of successfully completed post-high school education and experience to meet total qualification requirements at the GS-5 level? Only education in excess of the first 60 semester hours (i.e., beyond the second year) is creditable toward meeting the specialized experience requirement. (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED)

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions: The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee sits comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying of light items such as papers, books, small parts; or driving an automobile, etc. No special physical demands are required to perform the work. The work environment involves everyday risks or discomforts which require normal safety precautions typical of such places as offices, meeting and training rooms, or libraries. The work area is adequately lighted, heated, and ventilated.
