Duties
Lead and oversee the preparation of secure postal shipments and armored carrier transports to the Dept of State, regional offices, as well as other end users.
Monitor all deliveries to/from platform assuring that security controls are in place.
Assist the journeyperson to lie out, clean, and collate material on assembly table.
Assist the journeyperson in cleaning to include dust removal, sweeping, vacuuming, disposal of trash and production waste.
Verify content, carton assembly, and security of shipments and assure that stock items are properly marked, tagged, labeled and placed in proper locations.
Direct or assist in loading or unloading cargo and check to see that loads are properly distributed and secured. Load cartons in secured transport cages and uses and hand-operated power truck to transport cages of cartons to/from loading dock.
Follow specified postal procedures for shipments, i.e., weights, labels, registers, and stamp cartons and ensures all mailing procedures are correct.
Verify and record quantities and number sequences of all cartons assembled for shipment.
Feeds/puts the material for card sandwiches into the laminator.
Requirements
- You must be a current Career or Career Conditional GPO employee to apply.
- Selectee must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance.
- Physical Demand: physical activity such as reaching, bending, picking up cartons weighing up to 50 pounds. Repetitive hand, shoulder, and arm movement is necessary, writing delivery receipts, product serial numbers on labels and keeping record.
- Work Conditions: Work is performed in a well-lit, air conditioned, and heated but noisy production environment around machines with moving parts.
- Selectee must successfully pass pre-employment conditions prior to appointment.
Qualifications
To qualify for the Printing Plant Worker (Secure Credential), KX-4401-6 position, you must meet the following requirements: Applicants must meet the following SCREEN OUT/JOB ELEMENT #1: Ability to do the work of a Printing Plant Worker (Secure Credentials) without more than normal supervision (SCREEN OUT) to be considered eligible for the position. These duties require Skill to set up, operate, and make user adjustments to the shipment label printer; Verify the integrity of the cartons, seals, and contents; Write shipment receipts, record receipts numbers and other pertinent information on shipment reports.
Applicants must have experience and/or training of sufficient scope and quality to independently perform the duties typically required of a Printing Plant Worker (Secure Credential). These duties require skill to set up, operate, and make user adjustments to the shipment label printer; Verify the integrity of the cartons, seals, and contents; Write shipment receipts, record receipts numbers and other pertinent information on shipment reports.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
Weekend Shift Premium: Employees assigned to the Weekend Shift will receive the day shift rate for their position and receive a Shift premium of 10% for regular shift hours on Fridays and Saturdays. A shift premium of 25% shall be paid for regular shift hours worked on Sundays.
Annual and Sick Leave Accruals: Employees will accrue annual and sick leave hours based upon the number of hours worked and in accordance with Federal leave regulations. Annual and sick leave will be paid at the employee's base rate plus shift premium of 10%.
Holidays: Employees will receive all Federal holidays. Federal holidays falling on a Monday to Thursday will be scheduled to be observed on the Friday before or after the Federal holiday, except in the event that July 4, December 25, or January 1 fall on a Sunday, in which case the Federal holiday associated with those dates will be scheduled for that Sunday. Employees will receive their base rate plus shift premium of 10% (110%) for the number of regular shift hours on the holiday or scheduled holiday. If, notwithstanding the foregoing provision, GPO requires staffing on a Federal holiday or scheduled holiday, a 100% holiday premium will be paid for regular shift hours worked in accordance with 5 C.F.R. § 610.407
Overtime Rates: Overtime will be paid at time and one half (1.5x) the employee's premium rate (Base plus shift premium) after 40 hours of regular time in any week. Overtime will also be paid for hours worked in excess of the compressed work schedule each day (i.e., outside of the normal 6:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. regular shift hours on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays). Overtime assignments will continue to be governed by applicable collective bargaining agreements.
Future Wages: Future wage increases for Weekend Shift employees will be bargained by their applicable Unions during wage negotiations."
Education
Substitution of education in lieu of specialized experience may not be used for this grade level.
