The primary purpose of this position is to, as an Air Reserve Technician (ART), accomplish Combat Crew Communications responsibilities. Additionally, provides training to reservist in the accomplishment of the tasks set forth herein.
Duties
Accomplishes combat crew communications (CCC) activities. Formulates unit policy concerning communication security materials for local training tasks and missions not covered by operations orders (OPORDS) and operational plans (OPLANS), exercise plans (EXPLANS).
Responsible for Communication Security Management and Training.Develops and executes local physical, administrative, and communications security programs for combat crew communications.
Provides support to Flight Operations activities for assigned unit. Reviews all flying schedules daily, and coordinates communications and Safe Passage information with appropriate agencies.
Develops, coordinates, executes, maintains, peacetime, conventional, and other programs within the combat crew communication office.
Develops and implements combat crew communications control proficiency training and certification programs for combat crew communications, aircrews, augmentees, and others as designated.
Requirements

- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance.
- Position is designated as Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Air Force Civilian Drug Testing Program.
- As a mandatory requirement for employment, the incumbent is to refrain from the use of illegal drugs and if requested, submit to urinalysis testing.
- Appointee must sign a statement acknowledging the position occupied is a Testing Designated Position (TDP).
- This is an Air Reserve Technician (ART) position, the incumbent is required to meet and maintain Air Force Reserve requirements.
- Preferred Military Air Force Specialty Code (AFSC) 1D771W and Grade: Master Sergent (MSgt)/E-7
- Required to meet and maintain Air Force Reserve requirements. Incumbent's regular assignments are primarily ART duties: however, the incumbent may be assigned some non-ART duties, generally not to exceed 30 percent of total responsibilities.
- May be required to fly in commercial and military aircraft to perform temporary duty (TDY) assignments.
- Work schedule will be aligned to allow incumbent to fully participate in unit training assemblies (UTA).
- Position works in a high stress area with rapid response situations.

Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions, Telecommunications Series, 0391.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to or above the GS-07 level which equipped them to successfully perform the duties of the Telecommunication Specialist. Specialized experience includes
evaluating, analyzing, developing, managing, or improving communications systems, procedures, and requirements that demonstrated knowledge of current developments and trends in communications concepts and technology.

EDUCATION:
Master's or equivalent graduate Education, 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D. if related: Major study -- electrical or electronic engineering, mathematics, physics, public utilities, statistics, computer science, telecommunications management, information systems management, business administration, industrial management, or other fields related to the position to be filled. COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100 percent. To combine education and experience, determine the total qualifying experience as a percentage of the experience required for the grade level. Then determine the education as a percentage of the education required for the grade level. Finally, add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify an applicant for that grade level. NOTE: YOU MUST SUBMIT A COPY OF YOUR TRANSCRIPT.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
Knowledge of standardized telecommunications concepts, principles, and practices regarding deployable communications equipment and systems.
Knowledge of the operating characteristics of and interoperability requirements for specialized communications systems.
Knowledge of information systems security principles and methods.
Skill in weighing the impact of variables such as changes in electronic and other equipment characteristics, equipment availability, interoperability of components, and types of communications required.
Ability to resolve problems or questions by gathering and analyzing facts from a variety of sources, forming and communicating conclusions, and making recommendations.
Ability to read, comprehends, and interpret communications such as COMSEC messages, operational plans, execution orders, emergency action plans and orders. and ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing to brief, instruct, and prepare papers and documents.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
