This position will serve as the Propulsion and Power Systems Engineer and Propulsion IPT Lead in support of the H-60 Multi-Mission Helicopter Program (PMA-299), and is located within the Air Systems Group, System Safety, and Air Systems Integration Department, Air Systems Integration Division, and Propulsions Branch of NAVAIRWARCENAC DIV.

Duties

You will function as Propulsion and Power Systems Engineer to support assigned program goals and objectives. You will coordinate technical work efforts by NAVAIR competency specialists and contractors to develop solutions to propulsion and system requirements and issues. You will organize and perform assigned system technical reviews. You will manage and coordinate technical planning, budgeting, scheduling and evaluation aspects of proposed and authorized in-service aircraft and aircraft equipment product improvement efforts for weapons system program. You will accomplish additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized Professional Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Aerospace Engineering experience equivalent to the DP-04 STRL Pay Band or equivalent GS Grade Level (GS-12/13) in the Federal Service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Examples of specialized experience include the following: (1) Demonstrated in-depth working knowledge of design, development, installation, integration and management of propulsion and/or power systems for major aircraft (e.g. H-60, F-35, etc.); (2) Operated as a subject matter expert in support of aviation propulsion systems; (3) Formulated and implemented complex plans for the long term technical management and support of propulsion and power systems; (4) Applied job-related experience in communicating and influencing/negotiating with stakeholders to accomplish assigned aviation program requirements; (5) Provided technical leadership to integrated program team members; and (6) Managed and oversaw financial and contract execution of funding to meet aviation platform goals for cost, affordability, availability, and safety. Education

Applicants being considered for 0801/0830/0850/0861 occupational series must meet positive education/basic qualifications requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual as listed below:
-Successfully completed a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a professional engineering degree. To be acceptable, the curriculum must: (1) be in a school of engineering with at least one curriculum accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) as a professional engineering curriculum; or (2) include differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science of physics: (a) statics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics; or electronics.
OR
-Have a combination of education and experience - college-level education, training, and/or technical experience that furnished (1) a thorough knowledge of the physical and mathematical sciences underlying professional engineering; and (2) a good understanding, both theoretical and practical, of the engineering sciences and techniques and their applications to one of the branches of engineering. The adequacy of such background must be demonstrated by one of the following: (a) professional registration, (b) evidence of successfully passing the Engineer-In-Training examination; (c) successful completion of at least 60 semester hours of courses in the physical, mathematical, and engineering sciences and in engineering that included the courses specified in 1. A above; or (d) successful completion of a curriculum leading to a bachelor's degree in engineering technology or in an appropriate professional field, e.g., physics, chemistry, architecture, computer science, mathematics, hydrology, or geology, may be accepted in lieu of a degree in engineering, provided that it included at least 1 year of professional engineering experience acquired under professional engineering supervision and guidance.
