This position serves as the Time and Leave Clerk for Social Work Service. The position is located under the guidance of the Administrative Officer, Social Work Service.
Duties
Manages, processes and tracks administrative correspondence.
Responds to requests both verbal and written and prepares typed responses.
Supports all administrative timekeeping functions for Social Work Service.
Tracking the signed documents for all Delegation of Authority for Time and Leave Groups for compliance.
Knowledge of computerized payroll procedures required for the input of payroll data.
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm
Telework: VA supports the use of telework as a way to help attract and retain talented individuals in public service, increase worker productivity, and better prepare the agency to operate during emergencies. This position may be authorized for telework. Telework eligibility will be discussed during the interview process.

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 12/15/2023.
You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below:
Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-04 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: organizing both timekeeping and typing assignments on a daily basis to assure completion in a timely and priority manner, uses office automation processes, and preparation of timecards and related payroll documents.

Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have successfully completed four (4) years of education above high school level leading to a bachelor's degree in any field.
OR,
Combination: Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at this level. You must have an combination of specialized experience and education beyond high school.

Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment.
Physical Requirements: Thought most of the work is sedentary, the incumbent must be able to walk, stand, bend, climb, reach, and lift/carry boxes of records, files, papers, and supplies. Proper body mechanics must be utilized during office activities.
