About the Position: This position is with the 99th Readiness Division, Office of Commanding General, located at Fort Dix, New Jersey.

Duties

Receive and review incoming mail. Coordinate travel arrangements for Command Group. Prepare a variety of correspondence utilizing word processing or electronic mail. Transcribe notes into correspondence, reports and memoranda. Provide requested information to supervisor, staff and visitors. Screen calls and visitors. Maintain Commander's appointment calendar.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes using a personal computer and computer programs to type a variety of documents, such as memorandums, letters, reports and e-mails; reviewing correspondence to ensure proper formats, grammar, spelling and punctuation; scheduling and making appointments for others; and communicating with civilian and military leaders. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. Proficiency Required:This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: ClericalComputer SkillsCustomer Service (Clerical/Technical)Manages and Organizes Information Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07).
