You will serve as a ELECTRONICS TECHNICIAN (AIR TRAFFIC CONTROL SYSTEMS) in the Air Operations Department of NAS JRB FT WORTH. Commander, Navy Region Southeast

Duties

You will advise management in the resolution of problems detected within electronics engineering or technical support service programs. You will implement preventative and corrective maintenance by diagnosing communication systems malfunctions and operating difficulties. You will recommend modifications or upgrades to existing systems or alternate design approaches for existing systems. You will conduct on-the-job (OJT) training to required personnel relating to Air Traffic Control (ATC) systems.

  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.
  • This position requires employee to work adverse environmental conditions.
  • This position requires training in and administering of first aid and/or CPR and is a condition of employment.
  • May require the incumbent to enter into and work inside of confined spaces.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of Specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Reviewing technical airfield electronic work for compliance with regulations; 2) Troubleshooting and repairing airfield electronic equipment, air traffic control systems, radars, instrument approach systems, navigational aids, and communications systems to solve complex technical problems or improve system performance; 3) Evaluating equipment design to improve or enhance circuit and system operation; 4) Using applicable test equipment, test methods and practices as related to the Air Traffic Control equipment and systems, including safety precautions; 5) Performing site certification of ATC and Airfield Landing systems; and 6) Applying knowledge of Naval Air Traffic Control, air navigation aids and landing systems. The Applicant must possess at least one of the following Navy Classification Codes or their equivalent: ET-1570 Air Traffic Control Communications Technician, ET-1579 Precision Approach Radar Technician, ET-1471 URN-32 Tactical Air Navigation Technician, ET-1517 AN/FSQ-204 STARS Standard Terminal Automation Replacement System, ET-1530 AN/GPN DASR Digital Airport Surveillance Radar, or Instrument Landing System. A copy of the Navy Classification Codes or equivalent must be submitted with your application. Examples of specialized experience include: Work as a technician, instructor, inspector, or mechanic (civilian or military) that showed progression in theoretical and practical knowledge of electronic theory, and of the characteristics, function, operation, and capabilities of a variety of types of electronic equipment. This experience must have included the use of schematic diagrams, a variety of test equipment, and the application of appropriate electronic formulas involved in such duties as testing, troubleshooting, modifying, designing, calibrating, installing, maintaining, repairing, constructing, developing, and instructing on electronic equipment, or similar functions. Experience in developing policies, standards, and procedures for maintenance, installation, or similar functions, provided the work clearly shows that the applicant applied a specialized knowledge of the theories and principles of a variety of electronic systems or equipment.
