This position is located in the Education Service at VA Boise Health Care System - Boise VA Medical Center in Boise, ID. The Education Technician serves as an advanced level Health Professions Trainee Program Coordinator and is responsible for developing, implementing, improving and evaluating a seamless Health Professional Trainee Program.

Duties

***THIS IS NOT A VIRTUAL POSITION, YOU MUST LIVE WITHIN OR BE WILLING TO RELOCATE WITHIN A COMMUTABLE DISTANCE OF THE DUTY LOCATION*** Major duties and responsibilities include but not limited to: Serving as the authority for in-processing of all health trainees into the VA Providing leadership and utilizing extensive communication and collaboration skills to develop, initiate, and coordinate interdisciplinary department in-processing for over 400 trainees annually Applying analytical and evaluative techniques for the identification, consideration and resolution of issues and problems of a factual and/or procedural nature Guiding, educating, and motivating trainees and affiliates to ensure all requirements and processes are completed in an accurate and timely manner Negotiating and managing all agreements/contracts and memorandums of understanding between BVAMC and affiliate universities Reporting on status of various training programs to OAA and requesting funding for established education positions Completing reconciliation of funding reimbursement of VA education activities; coordinating educational details and other offsite activities; and collaborating on matters pertaining to trainee assignments Reviewing incoming correspondence, publications and MCMs that pertain to the health professional trainee program Collecting, organizing and tracking trainee and supervisor data; preparing and providing informational and statistical reports to leadership team; and auditing and analyzing Health Professional Trainee Program data Maintaining records of all medical students and associated health professionals; ensuring continued integrity of the VA security systems and discontinuance of access to VA facilities and confidential information upon completion of rotations Creating and overseeing all processes to ensure compliance with OAA, VISN, and BVAMC information requests and reporting requirements Reviewing and analyzing new and proposed policies concerning trainee programs; researching, collecting and reconciling local data with national data; and accumulating data from facility program areas, completing analysis, and developing documentation for the annual and regional reports Performing administrative management duties such as coordinating annual continuing education conference, acting as agent in place for Continuing Education Accreditation program, preparing orientation materials, and arrange meetings and conferences Work Schedule: Monday to Friday; 08:00 a.m. to 04:30 p.m. Recruitment & Relocation Incentives: Not authorized Financial Disclosure Report: Not Required

Minimum Requirement: The following are minimum requirements for appointment as an Education Technician in the Veterans Health Administration (VHA), which all applicants must met. Specialized Experience (GS-06): You must have one (1) year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA's) to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (i.e., GS-05). Qualifying examples of specialized experience would typically include but are not limited to: completing data entry to track task completion of process; maintaining records, spreadsheets and/or databases required for the technical aspects of work; reviewing and determining accuracy and completeness of materials submitted by customers; and providing customer service to internal and external customers electronically and in person using multiple tools such as telephone, Microsoft Teams and Outlook, and text. You will be rated on the following Competencies as part of the assessment questionnaire for this position: Administration and ManagementAnalysis and Problem SolvingTechnical Competence IMPORTANT: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. All experience listed on your resume must include the month and year start/end dates. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Physical Requirements: The work is relatively sedentary but requires regular and recurrent physical exertion such as walking, standing, bending, reaching, and lifting of a variety of moderately weighted objects. May require occasional travel.
