The position is located organizationally and under the supervision of the Associate Chief of Staff for Education (ACOS-E) at the Boise VA Medical Center (BVAMC), Boise, Idaho.
Duties
Major duties include but are not limited to:
Health Profession Trainee Program Management and Oversight - 60%
Independently serves as the authority for in-processing of all health trainees into the BVAMC. Develops, implements, maintains, and evaluates the BVAMC's complex health professional training program in accordance with the guidelines and requirements set by the VA Office of Academic Affiliations, VISN, ACOS-E and academic affiliates. Collaborates on the development of facility, VISN and national level plans to assure implementation of Academic Affiliation principles. Provides oversight of the health professional training program, including overall mission of the Office of Academic Affiliations (OAA) and clinical service requirements of specific healthcare professions.
Provides leadership and utilizes extensive communication and collaboration skills to independently develop, initiate and coordinate interprofessional department in-processing for over 400 trainees annually trainees (e.g., fellows, interns, medical students/residents and a combination of other clinical and nonclinical positions)). Collaborates with department heads, professional and non-professional staff, applicants and affiliates at all stages of program implementation. Communicates with relevant parties to resolves problems and issues.
Records Management - 15%
Collects, organizes and tracks trainee and supervisor data to evaluate, analyze, validate and verify with VHA and accrediting/certifying organizations' requirements. Prepares and provides informational and statistical reports to ACOS-E and other members of the BVAMC leadership team, VISN and OAA Headquarters.
Audits and analyzes Health Professional Trainee Program data to identify areas for improvement and develop conclusions about the status of the program.
Regulatory and Compliance - 15%
Independently creates and oversees all processes to ensure compliance with OAA, VISN and BVAMC information requests and reporting requirements.
Identifies and recommends to leadership methods of eliminating, combining, simplifying or improving procedures and processes, while maintaining compliance with established policies.
Administrative Management - 10%
Organization and coordination of continuing education conferences for physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, pharmacists and other health professionals.
Acts as "Agent in Place" for the BVAMC's Continuing Education Accreditation program.
Preferred Experience: Health Professions Education or Human Resources experience onboarding Veterans Administration appointees.

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet time-in-grade and specialized experience requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement, 10/24/2023.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-06 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-05. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. You may qualify based on your experience as described below:
Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-05 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: knowledge of general administrative support in a health care delivery system; extensive knowledge of critical functional areas such as human resources, fiscal, Office of Academic Affiliations, and national accrediting bodies; excellent interpersonal skills and must be able to coordinate the efforts of others who are involved in medical professional training programs and allied health professions training at the facility; communicate effectively with others to gather information, present recommendations, and coordinate operations; demonstrates data analysis and the presentation of data in various formats available in the Microsoft Office 2010 suite including power point, word, excel, access and outlook. NOTE: Experience must be fully documented on your resume and must include job title, duties, month and year start/end dates AND hours worked per week.

Physical Requirements: The work is relatively sedentary but requires regular and recurrent physical exertion such as walking, standing, bending, reaching, and lifting of a variety of moderately weighted objects. May require occasional travel.
