This position is located at the William S. Middleton Memorial Veterans Hospital, Madison WI and reports to the Chief of Education.
Duties

Duties include but may not be limited to:
Plans, develops, implements, directs, evaluates, and coordinates education programs
Provides instruction and assistance concerning the determination of training needs.
Provides direct educational support to senior management, administrative/clinical personnel, and academic affiliates.
Maintain supporting documentation record retention for purchases.
Provide ongoing analysis of budget status for allocated funds.
Assists in interpretation of information contained in reports.
Provides information about educational development and other training programs.
Participate in team huddles, meetings, retreats, and conferences.
Monitor approved education projects and providing technical expertise.
Serve as a consultant and subject matter expert for specific educational needs.
Establishes guidelines and performance expectations for staff.
Observing workers' performance, conducts work performance critiques.
Providing informal feedback and periodically evaluating employee performance.
Resolving informal complaints and grievances.
Determining training needs by conferring with Health Care Group Leaders.
Work Schedule: Full-time, Monday-Friday, 8:00am - 4:30p
Qualifications
BASIC REQUIREMENTS
Degree: that included or was supplemented by at least 24 semester hours in a field related to the work of the position to be filled, of which at least 9 semester hours must have been in education courses. (Transcripts Required)

Combination of education and experience -- at least 24 semester hours in a field related to the work of the position to be filled, of which at least 9 semester hours must have been in education courses, plus appropriate experience or additional education. The experience must reflect the level and kind described in C below. (Transcripts Required)

Four years of experience that demonstrated a thorough understanding of the principles and practices underlying the work of this series. This experience must have been of such character and diversity to demonstrate that the applicant possesses an understanding of the field comparable to that normally acquired through successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university.

At least 1 full academic year of professional teaching experience. This experience is defined as full and primary responsibility, under general supervision, for instruction of assigned students in an accredited school or institution. This includes responsibility for preparing and presenting lessons and for evaluating students' progress, including a determination of the students' success or failure according to established criteria. Serving in an assistant capacity to a professor without the authority to determine the students' success or failure to meet course requirements does not meet this criterion.
In addition to the basic requirements listed above:
Specialized Experience - GS-12: applicants must have at least one year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-11 level in the Federal Service, which equipped you with the competencies required to successfully perform the duties of the position including but not limited to; extensive knowledge of Adult learning theory, methods and principles; academic requirements for various professions; instructional systems design to develop and publish web-based learning materials or on-line tutorials; distance learning methods and web-based academics; computers, including common, off-the-shelf software to develop and maintain data base systems such as computer-based learning systems to document training; management analysis principles and concepts including human resources, purchasing, supply and property management, records management, financial management and budget, and related administrative areas; and advanced communication and interpersonal relations skills, including the ability to appropriately relate to internal and external customers.

IMPORTANT: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. All experience listed on your resume must include the month and year start/end dates. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Physical Requirements: The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee sits comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking, standing, bending, and carrying of light items such as papers, books, or small parts. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.
