THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 5 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for an IT CYBERSECURITY SPECIALIST(INFOSEC)- Title 5, Position Description Number T5710200 and is part of the WI JFHQ J6, Wisconsin National Guard.

Duties

Serves as an Information Technology Specialist providing Cybersecurity for a state National Guard headquarters. Ensures systems are operated and maintained IAW AR 25-2 and all applicable command, DA,JS and DOD security directives and procedures. Monitors Microsoft and DoD information security bulletins and notifications as they relate to Information Security Vulnerability Alerts (ISVAs). Ensures the confidentiality, integrity and availability of systems and networks by planning, analyzing, developing, and implementing information systems security programs, policies, procedures, and tools. Ensures all IS and COTS/GOTS within the DODIN-A (NG) Enclave are properly certified and accredited in accordance with, Risk Management Framework (RMF), and configuration management policies and practices prior to installing devices/systems on the production ICAN. Maintains an operational knowledge base of past, current and possible future threats to the security posture by attending courses, conferences, seminars, online research, and information sharing between other Cyber Security/Information Security professionals. *** This is NOT an all-inclusive list of duties. ***

Qualifications

GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience, education or training that has provided a basic knowledge of data processing functions and general management principles that enabled the applicant to understand the stages required to automate a work process. Experience may have been gained in work such as computer operator or assistant, computer sales representative, program analyst, or other positions that required the use or adaptation of computer programs and systems. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: To qualify for the GS-2210-12 level, you must have at least 36 months experience, education, or training monitoring and troubleshooting network infrastructure and endpoints for vulnerabilities, misconfigurations, and indicators of compromise; assessing the security posture of network infrastructure and endpoints and delivering recommendations; monitoring, evaluating, and enforcing user, end point, system, and application compliance; monitoring critical security and vulnerability alerts and providing mitigation strategies to stakeholders and partners; selecting, implementing, and evaluating security measures and controls; experience that required adaptations of guidelines or precedents to meet the needs of the assignment.

Education

Substitution of Education for Specialized Experience - For the GS-5 level, a 4-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree may be substituted for the experience requirements. At the GS-7 level, one full year of graduate level education or superior academic achievement. At the GS-9 level, a masters or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree may be substituted. At the GS-11 level, a Ph.D. or equivalent, or 3 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree.

Undergraduate or Graduate Education: Degree in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management or degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks.
