This position is located in the Drug Enforcement Administrator (DEA), Information Systems Division (TC), Software Operations Section (TGS).
This position(s) primary purpose is to oversee oversight, software development, section guidance, and strategic direction of the software-based development processes for Concorde and other applications.
Duties
As a Supervisory IT Specialist (APPSW) - DETAIL NTE 180 DAYS typical work assignments may include:
Provides leadership, direction, and oversight of the software operations for the DEA.
Serves as the Subject Matter Expert (SME), supervising special projects and programs for TC and the DEA.
Manages software project estimates, schedules, and contingency planning activities.
Guides the identification software-based system design, requirements, development processes/methodologies, and maintenance to meet current and future agency requirements.
Evaluates current and emerging software languages, frameworks, and development methods to make recommendations to the DCIO on their implementation across all the agency's software development teams.
This position will provide supervisory guidance on technical project, but this is not a position that supervises employees.

Qualifications
The Information Technology (IT) Management Series, 2210, has an Individual Occupational Requirement (IOR), which must be met for this position in addition to the specialized experience.
Basic Experience Must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below.

Specialized Experience
One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-14 Federal grade level in performing the following duties:1) Managing and/or leading software development, guidance and strategic direction of the software based development processes for Concorde and other applications; 2) Providing technical support and advice to employees assisting in developing application software, modifying existing web application services, and using high-level programming and database management systems languages; and, 3) Writing program codes, compiles, debugs, tests, documents and implementing programs for new and existing systems.
Specialized experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
