About the Position: This position is with the Defense Health Agency. It is located within the Southwest Georgia Martin Army Community Hospital Managed Care located in Fort Moore, GA. The primary purpose is to serve as a Medical Consults Processing Assistant (OA) for a Military Treatment Facility (MTF) obtaining results, tracking and closing all network specialty referrals utilizing appropriate medical systems.
Duties
Contact patients, providers, and other staff to obtain referral reports/results and or status of request for referral.
Use current and sound working knowledge of the medical management principles and referral management policies and processes.
Perform tracking of electronic medical referral consultations, obtains and inputs results into the patient’s electronic health record and properly closes medical referrals per guidelines.
Organize, manage, and retrieve data and submits monthly reports to the supervisor and Division Chief.
Promptly and effectively communicates with the supervisor to resolve problems that affect the process.
Complete follow-up with beneficiaries as to appointment date for accuracy of results retrieval and to report to higher command.
Control and account for electronically transmitted medical consultations by retrieving and processing electronically transferred patient consultations from the Composite Health Care System (CHCS).

- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- A fully Qualified Typist is required.
- This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is therefore subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes processing electronic medical consultations, inputting results into patient's health records, retrieving data for reporting purposes; and utilizing office automation equipment and/or software.
This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04).
OR
Education: Four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages.
