Serves as Journeyman Pipefitter within the Facilities Management Service/Engineering Branch at the Orlando VA Medical Center. Employee is responsible to WS-4749-10 Maintenance Mechanic Foreman. The Journeyman Pipefitter will be responsible for the day to day maintenance and operations of all pipefitting duties that encompass the installation, maintenance, repair and inspection of all varieties of plumbing, kitchen equipment, medical gas piping systems, steam systems etc.
Duties
Duties include, but are not limited to:
Install, maintain, repair and inspect all varieties of plumbing and gas piping systems and mechanical equipment used in the facility.
Periodically inspect piping, valves, control fittings and auxiliary equipment of steam plant, gas fired equipment and steam, gas and water distribution systems for defects.
Make rough sketches or prints of newly installed equipment to be delivered to the Pipe and Metal Supervisor for the purpose of updating the Master piping and plumbing blueprints.
Erect or suspend scaffolding in the performance of duties and is responsible for the proper care and maintenance of his tools and equipment.
Insure all tools and equipment are properly functioning and are safe for use.
Construct necessary dust barriers and/or block-off areas as needed for the safety and protection of patients, staff, visitors and equipment.
Work Schedule: Sunday-Thursday, Tuesday-Saturday or Monday-Friday 7:00 am-3:30 pm, 3:00 pm-11:30 pm, 11:00 pm - 7:30 am

Physical Requirements: Must be physically fit as work involves lifting, pulling, climbing, crawling, working with hands over head, working in confined areas and using arm and back muscles in tightening corrections. Must have ability to be on feet for long periods either standing, walking, working off ladders or staging materials and lifting equipment weighing 60 pounds and over. Will request assistance when needed to avoid injury.
