Duties

Duties of the Diversity & Inclusion Officer, GS-0301-15 for Office of Management and Policy include but not limited to: Develops and implements a Diversity and Inclusion Strategic Plan for the OIG national workforce. Ensures plan has strategies, goals, initiatives, tactics, and metrics so that recurring reporting can be shared to track progress. Acts as change agent of the OIG culture from a diversity and inclusion perspective. Identifies aspects of culture that require change; develops sound approaches and opportunities for modification; and articulates the need for change and progress of change to the OIG clearly and persuasively. Develops and coordinates programs and initiatives to drive and integrate diversity and inclusion practices throughout OIG that help build a diverse and inclusive workforce, respecting individual organizational cultures, while complying with merit principles and applicable Federal laws. Provides strategic advice and counsel to the Inspector General, Deputy Inspector General, and other senior-level officials within the OIG, on diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility related issues impacting the OIG's divisions. Provides authoritative advice and consultation on diversity and inclusion (DI) policy guidance to the OIG senior management concerning the complex, sensitive, controversial, and timely issues that must be addressed by the OIG. Provides expert advice and guidance on the preparation of responses to diversity and inclusion inquiries.

To see if your institution is accredited, please follow this link: http://ope.ed.gov/accreditation/Search.aspx For the GS-15: Applicants must have 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level in the Federal service which provided the applicant with the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties of the position. Qualifying specialized experience must demonstrate all the following: (1) Developing and coordinating Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Accessibility (DEIA) programs and initiatives to drive and integrate diversity and inclusion practices throughout an organization; (2) Developing and coordinating DEIA training and continuous learning opportunities throughout an organization; and (3) Developing and maintaining metrics for measuring DEIA success and recommendations to senior officials. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume should include the dates of all qualifying experience (from month/year to month/year) and the number of hours worked/volunteered per week. Federal experience is not required. The experience may have been gained in the public sector, private sector or Volunteer Service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-timework is considered on a prorated basis.
