Qualifications
In addition to the educational requirements, we are looking for at least one year of specialized experience related to this position as described below:
To qualify for the Research GS-12 level, you need to have at least one year of full-time experience equivalent to the GS-11 level defined as proposing and conducting novel research relevant to antimicrobial resistance (AMR) in surface water; and analyzing or communicating research results;
- OR Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in the academic discipline as described below;
- OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
To qualify for the GS-13 level, you need to have at least one year of full-time experience equivalent to the GS-12 level defined as proposing and conducting novel research relevant to antimicrobial resistance (AMR) in surface water; analyzing or communicating research results; and assist with the development of peer reviewed publications on AMR in surface water.
Your application package will be used to evaluate your competencies in the following areas: 1) Knowledge of antibiotic resistant bacteria, microbiology, molecular biological techniques, and/or next generation sequence technologies; 2) Knowledge of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA)-funded interagency project on assessing antimicrobial resistance in surface waters; 3) Skill in documenting abilities in the One Health aspects of antimicrobial resistance; 4) Skill in interpreting scientific data; 5) Skill in written communication; 6) Ability to lead and train a team of researchers; 7) Skill in oral communication; 8) Ability to manage contracts including preparing procurement requests and monitoring technical performance.

Education
You need a degree or combination of education and experience as described below to qualify for this position.
You must have a bachelor's or higher degree from an accredited or pre-accredited college or university in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position; OR a combination of education and experience with courses equivalent to a major, as listed.
