This position serves as a Clinical Dietetic Technician in the Nutrition and Food Services section of the VA Medical Center in Phoenix, AZ and, as an Interdisciplinary Care Team member, is responsible for providing a high-level of technical assistance and support to the Advanced Level Practice Registered Dietitian Nutrition/Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist (RDN/CDCES).
Duties
Major duties and responsibilities will include:
Works collaboratively with the Registered Dietitian Nutritionist/Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist (RDN/CDCES)
Scrubs RDN/CDCES patient panel. Assists in the collection of data. Generates glucose reports from device sharing platforms.
Coordinates appointments with assigned Veterans or may schedule appointments for assigned Veterans to meet with the RDN/CDCES or attend diabetes classes.
Provide secure messaging in assigned Veterans charts to communicate information to Veterans and other treatment team members.
Assists Veterans with logistics of virtual modalities such as VA Video Connect (VVC).
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Designated Drug-Testing Position: Applicants tentatively selected for VA employment in a testing designated position are subject to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment. Applicants who refuse to be tested will be denied employment with VA. Applicants will not be appointed to the position if a verified positive drug test result is received.

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 12/19/2023.
GS-6 Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-05 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: developing and revising nutrition care plans; interpreting significance of abnormal laboratory values related to nutritional status; performing nutrition screening, assessing meal intakes and adjusting meal plans as appropriate; providing nutrition education; communicating with patients and other health care team members regarding patients' nutritional needs; using nutrition technology applications; and assessing the effectiveness of nutrition care plans, documenting care plans using the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (AND) guidelines.

Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have a 2 year degree (Dietetic Technician from a Technical College in a nutrition related field. (i.e. nutrition, dietary therapy, food and nutrition science, food service systems management, etc.).
