About the Position: This is an Information Technology Specialist (Information Security) position serving as as the command assistant Information Assurance manager for the Human Resources Command (HRC) and those tenants supported by the command's infrastructure located within the Human Resources Command, G6, Fort Knox, KY.
Duties
Manages the risk management, security, and contingency planning programs
Influences, motivates, and challenges others; adapts leadership styles to a variety of situations.
Holds self and others accountable for measurable high-quality, timely, and cost-effective results. Determines objectives, sets priorities, and delegates work. Accepts responsibility for mistakes. Complies with established control systems and rules.
Perform staff functions in a command headquarters.
Support cybersecurity readiness and sharing of information in support of cybersecurity mission and operations.
Knowledge of methods/procedures to protect information systems and data ensuring availability, authentication, confidentiality, and integrity documenting deficiencies, reporting corrective actions, and recommending changes to improve the security.
Document deficiencies, report corrective actions, and recommend changes to improve the security.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
- This position is required to satisfactorily complete the appropriate training and obtain the required certification/recertification outlined in DoD Publication 8570.01-M, Information Assurance Workforce Improvement Program.
- Must possess and maintain IA certifications baseline and computing environment incumbent to their position within six months IAW DoD Directive 8570.1-M, AR 25-2 and the Information Assurance Training and Certification Best Business Practice (BBP).
- This position requires the employee to occasionally travel away from the normal duty station. Travel may be required to attend training, conferences, and other mission requirements.
- Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
- Permanent Change of Station (PCS) cost is not authorized.

Specialized Experience: To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of specialized experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Which includes work that involves skills focused as a team lead or on managing personnel/projects and cybersecurity guidance to assess risk and balance security compliance while ensuring confidentiality integrity, and availability (CIA); detecting, defending, responding to, and preventing cyber-attacks and protecting information systems & networks. Support Federal and DoD cybersecurity compliance standards, applicable laws, directives, Executive Orders, policies or regulations; Risk Management Framework (RMF) by participating in risk analysis for the information systems software, hardware, procedures, personnel, and physical security. Possess experience and a comprehensive understanding of RMF program; to categorize, select, implement, assess security controls, authorize information systems, and monitor security controls. Possess experience in command and control, operations, and tasking; manage and report status and understand and perform basic knowledge management functions. Possess a basic understanding of current and progressing DoD Cloud Cybersecurity requirements.
The specialized experience must include, or be supplemented by, information technology related experience (paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training,as appropriate) which demonstrates each of the four competencies, as defined:
1) Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. Examples of IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: completing work independently that rarely requires editing or review by others.
(2) Customer Service -Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations;knows about available products and services;is committed to providing quality products and services. Examples of IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: resolving simple and routine problems, questions, or complaints and providing support and guidance to customers on non-routine issues; serving as a primary resource for customers, requesting assistance with complex issues when necessary; and participating in meetings and providing advice to customers in own area of expertise.
(3) Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example,technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations;listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. Examples of IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: expressing facts and ideas in a clear, concise, convincing, and organized manner; clearly conveying moderately complex ideas, concepts, and information to customers; exhibiting active listening by demonstrating understanding of audience comments and/or questions.
