The hired applicant will serve as the Program Analyst for the Anesthesiology Service Line for the Ralph H Johnson VA Medical Center. They will serve as a member of the anesthesiology service support staff and monitor programs that support local, regional, and national directives, missions and goals
Duties
The hired applicant will serve as the Program Analyst for the Anesthesiology Service Line for the Ralph H Johnson VA Medical Center. They will serve as a member of the anesthesiology service support staff and monitor programs that support local, regional, and national directives, missions and goals.
The main duties consists of but not limited to:
Provides knowledge in the design of decision support tools that improve healthcare efficiency, effectiveness and safety.
Applies statistical analyses and interprets their significance including validity of measure.
Assists clinical end users in reengineering processes for clinical efficiency and documentation.
Supports change management.
Analyzes current and projected processes and programs for actuator potential effectiveness in achieving their intended objectives.
Attends various meetings supporting the Administrative Officer.
Represents the Anesthesiology Service on various committees, task forces or other working groups.
Assists in resolving and improving physician workload and productivity reporting issues for the Anesthesiology Service.
Integrates knowledge of clinical and information processes to achieve successful adoption and application of new technologies to support health care operations and systems.
Applies expertise and knowledge of health care delivery systems to monitor, evaluate and improve quality of patient care and experience at the Ralph H. Johnson VA.
Assists in identifying end-user educational requirements and training needs.
Instructs staff members in the proper use of information management tools in compliance with policy, regulations and best practices.
Presents in-service education programs to staff with regard to appropriate consult procedures, compliance, workload capture, encounters, and other programs as needed.

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 12/18/2023.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement.
For a GS-09 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-07.
The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade.
Note: Award 50's do not provide sufficient information and will not be accepted for the purpose of verifying time-in-grade.
You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below:
Specialized Experience (GS-09): You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade (GS-07) in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to:
Knowledge of management principles, practices, processes and techniques and ability to apply them to a health care delivery system.
Broad knowledge of healthcare data systems, Electronic Health Records (EHR) and principles relating to these areas.
Ability to utilize MS Office Suite to develop and edit spreadsheets, documents and presentations to graphically display data.
Skill in applying analytical and evaluative methods and techniques to issues or studies concerning the efficiency and effectiveness of program operations.
Ability to deliver oral presentations in a variety of settings and prepare policies, procedures, memoranda and training materials, including concise, understandable charts and graphs and other briefing materials.
Ability to utilize MS Office Suite to develop and edit spreadsheets, documents and presentations to graphically display data.

Education: Successful completion of a master's or equivalent graduate degree, successfully completed two (2) full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree, LL.B or J.D. if related. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of this position.

Combination: I have an equivalent combination of successfully completed graduate level education (beyond the first year) and specialized experience, as described above, to meet the total requirements. The education portion must include graduate courses that demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do to the work of this position.

Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment.
Physical Requirements: The work is mostly sedentary, although some slight physical effort may be required.
