The G.V. (Sonny) Montgomery VA Medical Center (GVSMVAMC) is assigned an operative complexity level of 1B and provides healthcare to 50 counties in Mississippi and six parishes in Louisiana. This facility also supports a Veteran Outreach Clinic and seven (7) Community Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOCs) throughout the state of Mississippi. The GVSMVAMC is an urban tertiary facility and teaching facility. Complexity of services and care provided often create unique customer service concerns.
Duties
Writes and develops policies relating to administrative support of clinical operations.
Manages and evaluates programs efficiency and productivity.
Produces executive reports and analyzing dashboards for effective service-wide improvements
Assists in writing and coordinating Service level agreements.
Ensures accurate, timely and consistent data entered in the Medical Center database.
Ensures compliance and efficiency of appointment scheduling for the entire health care system.
Communicates with executive leadership and community stake holders.
Prepares executive letters, memorandums, and other written communication.
Coordinates the collection of data concerning patient care activities.
Provides direct on-the-job training for employees and provides backup skills by cross training.
Provides direct supervision to other levels of supervisory positions.
Oversees performance standards, annual evaluations, leave administration, incentive awards and disciplinary actions.
Applies an extensive knowledge of various VA/VHA directives, handbooks, policies, and procedures governing the provision of health care eligibility and enrollment, etc.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday; 7:30am- 4pm or 8am-4:30pm, subject to change based on the needs of the facility.
Telework: VA supports the use of telework as a way to help attract and retain talented individuals in public service, increase worker productivity, and better prepare the agency to operate during emergencies. Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 12/12/2023.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS 12 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS 11. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment.
You may qualify based on your experience as described below:
Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS 11 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to:
A thorough and comprehensive experience in pertinent laws, regulations, policies, guidelines, and procedures to include, but not limited to, patient appointment and consult management and those governing the provision of health benefits to Veterans.
Proficient in analyzing problems and present both written and oral recommendations taking into full consideration the wide range of factors and requirements which affect the management of the Health Administration Service and health care delivery system as a whole.
Must be skilled at providing effective personnel/performance management and maintaining fiscal responsibility.
Strong familiarity with the Computerized Patient Record System with emphasis on the Health Administration Service menus and packages necessary to manage, control, secure, coordinate and implement patient administration activities.
Skilled mathematical base to analyze and validate workload and financial data.

Physical Requirements: This is primarily a sedentary position, but the work requires some walking, bending, stooping, and carrying of light objects such as manuals, documents, etc. Concentration and sustained performance under prolonged stress is required because of the time factors involved in completion of work assignments within deadlines.
