This position is located in Moose Pass, Alaska, on the Chugach National Forest and is responsible for a variety of complex and recurring technical duties individually or as a crew member or leader in support of unit resource management.
Position filled will be full-time seasonal with 13 pay periods of guaranteed pay status and 13 pay periods of non-pay time.

Duties
Performs a variety of routine and frequently complex tasks involving techniques and practices relating to
natural resources, such as water, land, fish, plants, wildlife, and soils.
Independently, or as part of a team, conducts surveys; takes and records data, counts, sorts, identifies
species, and performs measurements.
Analyzes information; prepares reports of findings with appropriate recommendations; assembles information
for development of natural resource plans and coordination of resource need information for analytical reports.
Utilizes a variety of tools to collect and record data such as numbers, measurements, weights, samples, and
special notes.
Identifies and classifies principal natural resource types in assigned geographic areas.
Participates in developing new or improved prevention practices relating to conditions and findings of natural
resource areas where information and data have been collected.
Assists in layout of field experiments, pilot projects, impact evaluations, and specific natural resource
projects.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements

Qualifications

Specialized Experience Requirement:
For the GS-05: You must have one year specialized experience equivalent to the GS-04 in the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as meeting one or more of the following: Utilized topographic maps, photographs, and data that identify a variety of natural resource areas and conditions; Used a variety of tools to collect and record data such as numbers, measurements, weights, samples, and special notes, and making determinations for easily identifiable corrective action; Prepared data summaries in proper format.
OR
You must have a bachelors degree or 4 years of successfully completed education above high school (120 semester / 180 quarter hours) with major study or at least 24 semester hours in any combination of courses such as biology, chemistry, statistics, entomology, animal husbandry, botany, physics, agriculture, or mathematics and at least 6 semester hours of courses must be directly related to the position to be filled.
OR
You must have combinations of successfully completed post-high school education (in excess of the first 60 semester / 90 quarter hours) and specialized experience. The education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial, or technical school, junior college, college or university with courses related to the occupation of the position.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
