Duties

You will interpret engineering drawings which combine electrical and electronic schematics, logic diagrams, and mechanical drawings to perform electronics control maintenance. You will analyze diagnostic test readings and operating conditions of electronically controlled industrial equipment to isolate system malfunctions. You will use electronic test devices and specialized test equipment to troubleshoot malfunctions in electronic control equipment and components.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.

  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You may be required to obtain Continuous Emissions Monitoring System (CEMS) certification from a State Environmental Agency if required by the State.

  • May be assigned to any basic work week or shift hours, including alternating shifts.
  • In the event of an emergency, you may be required to report to work during non-duty/ duty hours and during emergency situations; may be assigned duties other than those identified in the position description.

Qualifications

This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. The Screen-out Element for this position is: I have the ability to perform common tasks including 1) Work with high voltage equipment and systems ranging up to 34,500 volts; 2) Troubleshooting and repairing malfunctioning components associated with a general purpose digital computer control systems and electrical utility controls systems; 3) Read and interpret drawings, sketches, wiring diagrams and manufacturing specification and manuals; and 4) Use test equipment (oscilloscopes, voltmeters and ohmmeters and interface equipment to computer systems . I work under close supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed.
