This vacancy is for an Economist position in the Direct Investment Division located at the Bureau of Economic Analysis.
This Job Opportunity Announcement may be used to fill other Economist, ZP-0110-4, FPL ZP-4 positions within the Bureau of Economic Analysis in the same geographical location with the same qualifications and specialized experience.
This position may be filled through means other than the competitive promotion process.
Duties
Delegates responsibilities and assign projects to other staff members and communicates survey results to ensure correct interpretation of survey data.
Interprets accounting principles (including U.S. GAAP) as they apply to economic surveys.
Collects survey data and research multinational companies to ensure the surveys reflect changing economic environment and data needs.
Communicate and collaborate with others to seek answers, share information, participate in data review, work with related surveys, and respond to queries.

Qualifications
Minimum Education Requirement:
A. Degree: economics, that included at least 21 semester hours in economics and 3 hours in statistics, accounting, or calculus.
OR
B. Combination of education and experience -- courses equivalent to a major in economics, as shown above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
Specialized Experience: To qualify for the Band IV (GS-13/14), you must meet the basic requirements listed above and have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade (GS-12 level) or Band III in the Federal service. Experience for this position includes: collecting and analyzing survey data; developing outreach material; communicating technical information in person and in writing; identifying data abnormalities; reviewing financial information on government surveys and financial statements for adherence to financial accounting standards; and interpreting accounting principles (to include GAAP) as they apply to economic surveys.
