About the Position: This position is in the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS). Employees occupying DCIPS positions are in the Excepted Service and must adhere to U.S. Code, Title 10, as well as Department of Defense Instruction 1400.25. This position is with US Army NETCOM Headquarters Cyber Protection Brigade S-2 Section located at Fort Eisenhower, GA.

Duties

Serves as the Special Security Officer and Special Access Program manager for the Cyber Protection Brigade (CPB). Functions as a primary advisor and authority for the following disciplines/programs: Information/SCI Security, Security Education and Awareness, Foreign Disclosure, Industrial Security, Personnel Security, Physical Security, and Operational Security. Provides analysis, planning, and evaluations concerning the development/implementation of security policies, standards, training, and methods for protecting information/equipment, sensitive operations, and facilities from national security threats. Acts as the Chief, Special Security Office (SSO) by providing management, administrative and technical control for Special Compartmented Information Facilities (SCIF) within the CPB footprint. Oversees the operation of the Special Security Office (SSO) and administers the SCI security program to include Special Compartmented Information (SCI) security oversight for local SCIFs. Represents the Cyber Protection Brigade (CPB) concerning Top Secret and SCI issues relating to the Command.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Two year trial period may be required.
  • In accordance with Change 3 to AR 600-85, Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program, individual must successfully pass a urinalysis screening for illegal drug use prior to appointment and periodically thereafter.
  • Must be willing to undergo and successfully complete a counterintelligence-scope polygraph examination with No Deception Indicated (NDI) on a pre-appointment and periodic basis.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret security clearance based on a SSBI background investigation for access to Sensitive Compartmental Information (SCI). A TS/SCI clearance is required.
  • Duties of this position may entail alternative duty schedules (including extended shifts; nights, weekends, and/or holidays, work rotating shifts; being recalled for urgent situations; and/or working overtime in response to surge situations.
  • May be required to carry a cellular telephone/Portable Electronic Device (PED) and maintain a working personal telephone at all times.
  • This position is considered Mission Essential.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GG/GS-12). You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Program SecuritySecurity Program ManagementSensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) Security Specialized experience is progressively responsible intelligence-related security work directly related to the position being filled. Creditable experience may include previous military experience, experience gained in the private sector or in another government agency as long as it was at a level at least equivalent to the next lower band in the series.
